This is an Attilio Morotti Polished Steel and Mother of Pearl Interframe Linerlock. The blade is 3 1/2 inches, the handle is 4 1/4 inches, with an overall length of 7 3/4 inches. This knife was made by master Italian knifemaker Attilio Morotti. It is my great pleasure to represent Attilio Morotti and offer some of his pieces to the American and worldwide market. As an Italian, I am very happy to see that artisans in Italy are doing well and are constantly intoducing new ideas and designs to the custom-art knife world. Attilio is from the outskirts of the city of Bergamo, in the region of Lombardia, Northern Italy. He makes knives both in steel as well as with various mosaic damascus patterns and really makes a beautiful and original knife. This knife features mirror-polished stainless steel handle scales which have been interframe inlayed with four pieces of absolutely premium Australian mother of pearl. These scales have been secured to the liners by three precision 18K gold screws. The blade is made of super high-end Swedish RWL-34 powder steel (similar to American CPM 154 powder steel) and has been hand-rubbed to a satin finish. The liners, also made of 416 stainless steel, have been filewoked all the way around in a very nice pattern. The stainless backspacer has also been filewoked in a very attractive and delicate pattern which also covers some of the blade spine. A very special feature of this particular knife is the ball-bearing pivot system that allows the blade to glide smoothly in and out of the handle. It is very similar to the patented IKBS (Ikoma-Korth Bearing System) which many high-end custom tactical flippers use these days, however, it is very difficult to find this type of mechanism in a non-tactical high-end custom art folder. A great example of modern Italian craftsmanship!
